Mining Worldcoin is similar to mining any other Scrypt based currencies. All you need is a custom desktop PC with a few graphics cards configured with the correct drivers and software for optimal hash rates and pointed at a mining pool. In this guide we will walk you through building your own Worldcoin mining rig. But first, a word about the currency itself.
Worldcoin is a Scrypt based currency with under 60 second confirmation times, making it an excellent crypto-currency for brick-and-mortar retail stores. To quote from the Worldcoin Foundation:
Our major goal is to become the cryptocurrency of choice for merchants and consumers for their everyday transaction, whether it be a cup of coffee or a bigger ticket item. Our speed and security makes all of this possible. Blazing fast speeds make WorldCoin the best way to pay for everyday transactions. Transactions are fully confirmed in about 60 seconds. Transfer money to your friends and family instantly with just a few clicks. WorldCoin is also based on sound money principals which makes it the smart choice for wealth preservation. It is designed to appreciate in value over time, unlike paper currency. This is due to the fact that only 265 million coins will ever be produced. These advantages are what makes us the leading choice for users. WorldCoin is designed to be the digital currency of the future. At the forefront is our blazing fast speed. Your transaction will be fully confirmed in about 60 seconds or less.
1. Worldcoin Mining Hardware
2 GPU Budget Worldcoin Mining Rig Build Guide – This budget Worldcoin mining rig will get you started mining Worlcoin, even if your budget is under $1,000. In fact, if you decide you want to expand in the future, you’ll be able to add an additional two GPU’s to this same rig. The directions for how to add on the additional graphics cards are included in this free build guide. Cost to build this Worldcoin mining rig: ~$900 for a total hash rate of ~1,300Kh/s. You can enter 1,300Kh/s on this Worldcoin mining calculator to figure out the current profitability of this build.
4 GPU Worldcoin Mining Rig Build Guide – A 4 GPU mining rig is likely the best option for most people who are getting into Worldcoin mining. This rig is capable of hash rates exceeding 2,600Kh/s and should cost you roughly $1,600 to build. You can enter 2,600Kh/s on this Worldcoin mining calculator to figure out the current profitability of this build.
6 GPU Worldcoin Mining Rig Build Guide – Running 6 GPU’s in one mining rig will give you the highest hash rate (~3,900Kh/s) of these three rig options, using just one computer motherboard and accompanying hardware. The first two rigs are based on the AMD AM3 chipset. For this build, we switched to Intel since the Intel Ivybridge chipset supports a maximum of 7 graphics cards, theoretically. Running at 3,900 Kh/s, this mining rig will cost you about $2,400 to build. You can enter 3,900Kh/s on this Worldcoin mining calculator to figure out the current profitability of this build.
2. Worldcoin Mining Software
Cgminer is the best mining software for all scrypt based currencies, including Worldcoin. You’ll want to download version 3.7.2 as it is the last version that supports Scrypt mining. Here’s a direct link to the download page. Since cgminer uses a command-line-interface (CLI), you will want to create a .bat file or .conf file with the configurations for your cards. A ‘batch file’ as it is called is the simplest to setup. Simply open Notepad or another text editor and change the .txt in the file extension to .bat. Right click on the .bat file and select ‘edit. You can then edit your settings to look something like this:
cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://poolurl:xxxx -u xxx -p x -I 20 --thread-concurrency 21712
3. Worldcoin Mining Pools
There are several Worldcoin mining pools. Here’s a brief list of the ones I’ve discovered. Feel free to add more in the comments as they come online.
